When I was but a child, maybe 7 or 8 years old, our pastor ask my grandmother, Mary Troutman, and Mrs. Lillie Cabbage to sing a duet special for the church. These two old ladies would always stand together and sing in the choir at Richland for as long as I can remember. Bro. Douglas Mize was pastor at the time. This was the first music special I can remember at Richland. I will never forget that Sunday morning that these two old ladies sang. The song they sang was "COME INTO MY HEART LORD JESUS". Grandmother Troutman sang alto and Mrs. Cabbage sang soprano. They did a wonderful job singing even though I could tell they were very nervous.

When Homecoming 2010 approached, and Pastor Larry Ellis asked me to put together the special music for that day, I immediately thought of these two old ladies again. But since they have been gone so very long now, another idea came to my mind. To honor these two old ladies, I ask Maybelle Clark and Marcy Crowe, granddaughters, to sing that same old song. I also ask Mark Poiles, Kathy Howard, and Cindy Smith, great grandchildren to do a special. I also ask Jacob and Jordon Murray, Tim Poiles, and Addison Howard, great-great grandchildren to sing a special. They all agreed to do so and it came out excellent.

Homecoming 2010 was an exciting day for me. It brought back a lot of wonderful memories. I hope that all who attended and participated received as great a blessing that day as I did. I had asked a lot of people to participate and help, and put together in a hurry, a concert of special music that was a thrill to hear. Every singer and every musician did a wonderful job.
